I think I just barfed in my mouth a little. No, a lot actually. Brace yourselves, ATLA fans...

Why? Just WHY? This movie is the perfect opportunity to allow some aspiring young actors and actresses of different cultural backgrounds to break through racial boundaries in the ever-oppressing acting world, so why do this and ruin it? I can't say I'm not surprised by the all-white cast, because this is SO TYPICAL of Hollywood, and I kind of expected it, (just look at what's happening with the DBZ movie - I've seen better COSPLAYERS!). That doesn't mean I'm not angry, though.

Coming from a cosplayer's point of view, I can see the characters in these actors coming through with the help of a lot of makeup, wigs, haircuts, hair dye, and color contacts, but I mean A LOT. Wasn't one of the points of this series to show off a beautiful, primarily Asian, and culturally diverse world? How many of you would love to see a young Inuit, Indian, Latina, or even African actress playing Katara? I know I sure would. Is there seriously no such actress talented enough for the role?

I think it all comes down to who's already been in 'X' popular movie who will probably make 'Y' movie popular too. But seriously, Mike and Bryan took a chance when they created Avatar - nothing like it has ever been made in the U.S. before - and it turned into a huge success. You'd think the movie casters would take a similar chance. :/

Here's hoping this is all a hoax. If not, then I'll be praying for a Japanese version to come along later or SOMETHING. ><;;

I agree with you on the whole making up the characters (wigs, makeup, etc), but I'm really shocked by this. Kudos to Aang and Katara for not really being known and getting their talent out there, but JESSE MCCARTNEY? Gag. He needs to stick to voice overs and not acting. Let's hope they get a good production crew to make it work.
